On 1/30/07, Clay took part in a special campaign called Up Close with UNICEF. He and other ambassadors asked questions which encouraged discussion and responses online and gave links to more information.
February 2007 - In Touch magazine had their top 10 most shocking moments in the Idol series. Clay was part of two of them. #8 was when Ruben beat Clay during AI2 and #3 was when Clay appeared on AI5
On 4/25/07, Clay received the Children's advocacy award from the National Center for Learning Disabilities. The NCLD celebrated its 30th anniversary at its annual benefit dinner, "Voices of our children, voices of our future." Clay also sang "I will carry you" with students from Currey Ingram Academy of Brentwood, Tennessee.

On 4/12/07, Clay issued a challenge through UNICEF to raise $100,000 in 10 days to help support educational work in Afghanistan. That challenge was met in less than half that time.
April 2007 - Y'all Magazine did a feature on Southern Idols. The cover featured Clay, Kellie Pickler, Fantasia Barrino, Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Ryan Seacrest
May 2007 - Grey Blackwell from Raleigh's paper The News and Observer posted a web cartoon having fun with the North Carolina Idol Contestants. It featured Clay and his puppies, Raleigh and Durham, Clay's mom Faye, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Bucky Covington, and Fantasia Barrino.

Canada Newspaper coverage of Pacific Economic Summit BC-California View
June 2007 - Clay joined David Foster for some appearances in Canada including a reception for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in Vancouver. It was covered in a number of Canadian newspapers
From May - June 2007 Kim Locke held an auction for Clothes off our Backs. Kim's auction raised over $16,000 dollars for charity. The winning bid for Clay's shirt was $4,020.
August 31, 2007 - Bloomingclay on the Clayboard brought over some interesting tidbits from Korea. Clay was the most searched in Korea's biggest website for the day. It started with a blog from a Clay fan.
On 9/07/07, the Pueblo Chieftain put out an article talking about Flat Stanley. They highlighted the different celebrities that have helped with the Flat Stanley project and included a picture of Clay. This was to promote the Buell museum at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center.
In October the Bubel Aiken Foundation put out a newsletter announcing some upcoming events including Clay's appearance on "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" and the Wrapping for Inclusion dates.
November 15, 2007, Spamalot Grail Mail sent out notice to their subscribers that Clay would be in the show. They also announced that there would be a Spamalot float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
In 11/07, UNCC extracurricular magazine had a wonderful feature article about Clay and what he has achieved. He earned his special education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003.
December 2007. USA Today mentioned his birthday, Raleigh paper had promos for Quiana Parler starring in Dreamgirls, and there was a nice mention on another website of the work Clay has done in Africa.
In December of 2007, the UNICEF trip was picked up by many news outlets. News of his Spamalot role was also in some articles. The Chicago Daily Herald and Birmingham News were just a couple who highlighted the trip.
The December 2007 publication of Skating Magazine featured an article about the Capital One's Holiday on Ice. It was also announced that from 12/22/07 - 1/20/08 NBC will air seven two hour skating specials. Icenetwork.com will tease three of these programs with short "making of shows" which will air approximately one week before their broadcasts. Clay and the cast of elite skaters including Sasha Cohen and Todd Eldredge were highlighted.
In December 2007 there were a number of great promotional items used. The Spamalot website used Clay's picture for an e-card for Christmas. There was a full page ad in the NY Times and there were fliers given out at Clay's concerts.
On 12/19/07, UNICEF and Clay started their Mexico Fund-raiser.
