Raleigh Man Hopes to Tranform Himself Into An American Idol View
Nov. 11/02 WRAL Interview: Upon his return from Atlanta, Clay contacted local media outlets to see if anyone was interested in his story. WRAL's Lynda Loveland came to the Parker home and recorded an interview. (To this day, she continues to be his 'go to' person with the area news sites.) Clay related the tale of his audition and sang bits of 'Over the Rainbow' and 'Always and Forever'.
Oct. 20/02 Charlotte Auditions: This on-line write-up describes the process at the first American Idol audition Clay attended in Charlotte NC. The prize was a chance to by-pass the screening rounds and go before the judges in Atlanta. Clay sang 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' but was beaten by talented local gal, Quiana Parlor. Since 2004, Quiana has regularly worked as Clay's back-up singer in many situations.
Nov. 1, 2002 As he exited the venue after his successful audition, Clay was quickly interviewed by an unidentified source. He told the story of his audition, including comments made by Randy and Simon.
