Western Europe

The history of Western Europe is one which is familiar to many people. It is a history of kings and queens--of princes and wars. It is the part of the world that gave birth to the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, and industrialization. It was once the home of knights in shining armor and medieval castles. It was also the birthplace of two world wars. Western Europe, and its historical development, has had a tremendous impact on the rest of the world.

In this section you will learn about the histroy of European countries, such as England, France, Spain, and Italy. You will read about King Charlemagne and Queen Elizabeth I, about ancient Gaul, and modern Germany. You will find out what historians think they know about the "real" King Arthur, and his knights of the round table. You will explore the art of ancient Italy, as well as the art of the Renaissance. You will follow Roman legions in their conquest of the known world. You will learn about the impact that western Europe had on the development of world history.
