On 11/8/08, Clay participated in UNICEF's 'I Believe in Zero' PSA to
bring awareness and encourage donations. This campaign aims to reduce
and hopefully eventually eliminate the unnecessary deaths of children
world-wide from illnesses that are easily treatable or preventable. UNICEF and Malaria No More are teaming up to defeat malaria—a
completely preventable disease that still kills one child every 30
seconds worlwide. But as UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken puts it in this
short video, "It doesn't have to be this way." He shows how insecticide
treated bed nets provided by UNICEF are being used to protect children
from malaria in Somalia. Four million children & their families had been dealing with the aftermath of the worst flooding in a century.
Jan 15th, 2009 Last year in Somalia, Clay recorded a promo message for the up-coming 2009 TAP project. Sales of glasses of water at restaurants during that period will go to support 'clean water' initiatives in poverty-stricken areas. On 9/9/08, 'Malaria No More' and UNICEF worked together to raise funds for simple mosquito nets which could help stop the spread of the disease. On 1/3/07, Clay did a Public Service Announcement for UNICEF addressing the fact that kids die needlessly each day of preventable causes. The PSA video is on the left side of the page. On 1/11/05, The Cartoon Network prepared a series of PSA's to encourage young viewers to aid the tsunami victims in Asia. Supertramp's classic song, "Give A Little Bit" was performed in clips by Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik, India Arie and By Clay. A fourth video was a blend of all three performances. On 5/31/05, UNICEF announced that Clay would be the National Spokesman for the 2005 Trick or Treat for UNICEF fund raising campaign. In September, promotional materials started appearing.
