November 2, 2005 'Make a Wish' annually selects honorees for their dedication to the Foundation's mission by helping grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. In November 2009 they added this year's recipients of the "Chris Greicius Celebrity Award". February 7, 2004 Prior to his rise to fame on American Idol, Clay performed in the Raleigh-Durham area throughout his teens & early twenties. One of his regular slots was with the Johnston Community College "Country Music Showcase". Then known as 'Clayton Grissom, he was a popular regular from 1997 through October 2000. In February 2004, Clay was inducted into the "Country Music Showcase Hall of Fame". Unfortunately, Clay was unable to attend the ceremony because he was busy in New York with rehearsals & the live broadcast of a little show called 'Saturday Night Live'. he sent a video 'Thank You' message and his mother, Faye Parker, accepted on his behalf. Induction into the Johnston Community College Country Music Showcase Hall of Fame FD Recap  
June 23, 2010 The "North Carolina Music Hall of Fame" is expanding it exhibits and its list of honored local talent. At the next induction ceremony in October 2010, Clay will be among the new names added to the group. He will join such illustrious performers as John Coltrane, Roberta Flack, Randy Travis and James Taylor.
