Phineas and Ferb 8/7c Disney XD New episodes of the animated series about two step-brothers who throw themselves into making every day an adventure air throughout the summer, beginning June 14 when as a means to beat boredom the boys not only build the ultimate lemonade stand, but also an authentic log cabin and pioneer village. Impressive, however they manage to top that during an hour-long installment, which will air in August and features a duet by legendary R&B singer Chaka Khan and Season 2 American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken. "Bringing Broadway Home" Special Concert on June 21, 2010 This one-night-only special event to raise funds for the North Carolina Theatre was announced on April 13, 2010. The special concert would feature Clay and other area talent that has/had connections to Broadway. Sharon Lawrence is a 4-time Emmy nominated actress, with many television credits and stage appearances. Terrence Mann, was starring on Broadway at the time of this concert. The Tony-nominated performer worked as actor, artistic director and director for many NC Theatre productions, including two in which Clay had minor parts pre-Idol. Clay played small roles in '1776' and 'Shenandoah'. Also included in the cast for this special were Lauren Kennedy & Quiana Parler. |  |

Clay and Ruben Studdard will hit the road during the summer of 2010 with a tour they called 'Timeless'. The two men, along with Quiana Parlor, will perform 'classic hits' from the past five decades during the 17 stop tour.

The email to OFC members also outlined a special auction for the 'National Inclusion Project' which would allow the lucky winners a seat at the dress rehearsal for the show, a backstage tour, a Q&A session with Clay and tickets to the actual show/taping. an opportunity for young people to become more involved in the field of
inclusion. They are participating in a national summit with the goal of
"developing an advocacy campaign that builds awareness and support for the
full social and educational inclusion of people with disabilities".
The summit takes place from January 8 - 10, 2010 at the Imagination Stage in Bethesda, MD. The event will pay tribute to the 15-time Grammy winner and will feature Clay Aiken, Philip Bailey from the chart-topping band Earth, Wind & Fire, Brian McKnight, Peter Cincotti and Oprah Winfrey’s protégé, Charice. Foster also will perform some of the hits he has written or produced during his 40-year musical career. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. May 9, 2009 "David Foster & Friends": Clay joined an extensive list of stars at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay concert hall. During the show, he performed a medley of hits that David recorded with Peter Cetera (singer from the band 'Chicago'). He joined the cast in singing 'America's Song' to close the show. (David wrote that song with Will I Am of the Black Eyed Peas in honor of the inauguration of President Obama.) At the party after the main event, Clay sang 'Unchained Melody' for the guests. |  |
North Carolina Theatre is hosting the third annual NCT Capital Awards for High School Musical Theatre Excellence presented by Capital Bank. The event takes place on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The Capital Awards is a logical step in NCT’s efforts to advance the performing arts by highlighting the work of the next generation of aspiring young performers. North Carolina Theatre has a strong commitment to theatre education, dating back to the creation of Summer Theatre Arts School in 1984 and more recently the launch of NCT's Conservatory for the Performing Arts in North Raleigh in 2004.
The goal of the NCT Capital Awards program is threefold: to celebrate students for their dedication to musical theatre, to elevate interest in performing arts education and to perpetuate community support for the performing arts. Arts educators at 11 schools from all over the state have registered their school productions, outstanding actors and technical students for consideration of a NCT Capital Award. Expert judges are in the process of nominating outstanding performances in each category including Outstanding Musical, Direction, Choreography, Musical Direction, Sound, Lighting, Scene Design, Costume Design, Stage Crew and Technical Execution, Ensemble, Leading Actor, Leading Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress and Featured Performer. Outstanding Musical nominees will get a chance to perform one number from their show as part of the awards production. Each Outstanding Leading Actor/Actress nominated will also be allowed to perform a portion of a song from their performance. The show will be produced on a grand scale with black tie presenters and professionally staged numbers. Professional lighting, sound and staging will be utilized. Presenters will have a tie to North Carolina and performing arts or may be veterans of NCT productions. The Monday night event is a black-tie event. Besides Broadway veteran, Clay Aiken, the other celebrity presenters include Clay’s friend, Lynda Loveland, Steve Daniels of WTVD ABC 11, Roy Dicks of The News & Observer and others. On-line entertainment news sites reported that Clay would be doing a guest spot on the up-coming season of 'Tyra Banks' show "America's next Top Model". he would be part of an acting challenge and join the judging panel for one episode. Singer Ciara will also appear on the episode during the models’ photo shoot. TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly, Access Hollywood, and Entertainment Tonight were just a few of the sites who announced this. The date has been set. Clay will appear on the show on 4/08. |  |

In the latest edition of The Voice, BAF announced the next date for their gala: October 17th, 2009 in Raleigh, NC The newsletter also included some fantastic updates: TBAF Awards Grants over $500,000 to Programs NationwideThe Bubel/Aiken Foundation, co-founded by entertainer Clay Aiken, announced over $500,000 in grants to support programs nationwide as part of the Foundation’s Let’s ALL Play initiative.In just two years the Foundation has invested over one million dollars to expand Let’s ALL Play across the country. The goal of Let’s ALL Play is to assist child and youth organizations in moving toward full inclusion. In 2004, the inclusive recreational experience for children with and without disabilities was instituted by the Foundation. The Foundation will support over 30 recreational programs in 2009. Programs receive a program model and Foundation training in addition to grant funding. In 2008, The Foundation enlisted the services of The Center for Social Development and Education at the University of Massachusetts, Boston to assess the implementation of Let’s ALL Play. Overwhelming evidence showed that campers with disabilities improved self-esteem, social skills, social relationships with campers without disabilities, general engagement in camp activities, and sport/motor skills. The Bubel/Aiken Foundation looks to create communities where ALL children can learn, live, and play together. Because of the continued support of dedicated volunteers and the assistance of new supporters, the Foundation will give over 5,000 children an inclusive experience this summer. “The Bubel/Aiken Foundation’s investment in creating inclusive opportunities for children will impact our country for generations to come,” said Clay Aiken. MEAF Awards GrantThe Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF) has announced $360,000 in new and continuing grants, raising the total investment in the Foundation’s five-year Inclusion Initiative to $3.2 million. The newest inclusion project is a joint venture between The Bubel/Aiken Foundation (TBAF) and the National Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University.Building on a three-year partnership, The Bubel/Aiken Foundation and the National Center for Summer Learning will create a distinct and powerful new force for change in the field of summer learning for all children, especially those with disabilities. The partners will expand access to high-quality, inclusive summer learning opportunities for young people by developing a summer learning curriculum to help summer camps fully include youth with disabilities. MDRT GrantKenneth R. Cassis of Cassis McLean Financial Svcs from London, Ontario is a 33-year MDRT member (www.mdrt.org). He is an active supporter of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation and recently nominated and endorsed a grant application on behalf of TBAF. Thanks to his support TBAF received an $8,000 grant from the MDRT Foundation. Our success is totally dependent on your contributions and those of other donors and sponsors and this income is tightly managed with 89% of every dollar spent going directly to inclusive programs. Through your support we were successful in having income exceed expenses as we also manage to ensure multi-year continuity of our programs. As always a new fiscal and calendar year brings many challenges, perhaps more so in 2009 than in some years past.
